Community & Membership Outreach

The Wisconsin Women of Color Network was established as a non-profit charitable organization under Chapter 181, Wisconsin Statutes, on October 5, 1983.  To commemorate this event, The Board of Directors of WWOCN celebrates its "Birthday Anniversary" with a Membership Tea, usually on the first Saturday of October.  There is no cost to attend and participate in this event.

WWOCN members and supporters from the community take this opportunity to meet and greet each other along with guests from partner organizations.  Information is shared about WWOCN's mission and vision to empower women and girls of color throughout  Wisconsin and beyond. Participants are asked to offer suggestions for programs and other activities they feel will benefit women of color in the community.

WWOCN aims to increase its membership throughout Wisconsin, particularly, from the Milwaukee and neighboring areas.  WWOCN welcomes the support of everyone in recruiting new members.  Led by an active Milwaukee Leadership Team, the number of members from the Milwaukee area has increased.  As a membership driven organization, its members help to provide better programming, participation, and support.
